Paduka

en. Paduka, literally footwear, is a symbolic representation of the deity or saint to whom the paduka belong.

In lieu of worshipping the saint in person, the paduka serve as medium through which devotees can offer their prayers to that saint. It is common for these paduka, typically made of wood, to be covered in a film of silver to ensure that the wood is protected and remains in tact through years of worship. Alternatively, although less common, paduka can be set entirely in silver or gold when used for worship by devotees.

fr. Paduka, littéralement les chausseurs, mais c’est une représentation symbolique de la divinité ou du saint auquel appartient le paduka.
