H. H. Sadguru Matushree Parvati Devi Deshpande was the revered mother and Sadguru of the H. H. Sadguru Shree Mamasaheb Deshpande. She was Herself a great yogini and spiritually accomplished person.

#1. What is Her Holiness Sadguru Matuhshree Parvati Devi’s birth year?

Matuhshree was born in Shalivahana Shaka 1799 (Gergorian Year: 1877) in the city of Akkalkot, Maharashtra State, India

#2. From whom did Matuhshree learn medicine and astrology?

Janakibai helped every one possible with her medical knowledge. She was able to help pregnant women deliver babies in a transverse position. Her diagnosis, based only on the “nadi” (नाडी) examination, was accurate and helped people.

#3. Why would Matuhshree have tears in Her eyes while reading Shree Dnyaneshwari?

From the perspective of our material world, Matuhshree was not educated. Yet, She was able to read and explain Shree Dnyaneshwari. This was nothing but Bhagwan Shree Krishna’s grace on Matushree. The same grace enabled Her to see Bhagwan Shree Krishna explaining to Arjun on the pages of Shree Dnyaneshwari.

#4. How did Matuhshree inspire P. P. Sadguru Shree Mama to start performing manaspooja?

Mama woke up one morning to see Matushree performing Her manaspooja. The entire place was filled with a lovely fragrance. He could hear ghantanaad. The curiosity to understand where the ghantanaad came from inspired Him to start performing manaspooja.

#5. Who asked Matuhshree to name Her son Shreepad?

Prior to taking Samadhi, PP Sadguru Shree Vasudevananda Saraswati Tembye Swami Maharaj appeared in a divine vision seen by Matushree. Tembye Swami Maharaj told Her not to worry about Her pregnancy and that the boy would be His reincarnation.

#6. How many siblings did Matuhshree have?

She had one brother (Narhari) and one sister (Mai). She was the middle child.

#7. How would Matuhshree end the game of भेंड्या (name the song) with Shree Bhagwanta?

The game of भेंड्या consisted of all the shloks, bhajans, and abhanaga. When Matuhshree ran out of these, She would start singing “Krishna Krishna”; which made Shree Bhagwanta declare Matushree a winner.

#8. Why did Matushree never take any medicines?

Since She did Her sadhana regularly, she never fell ill. That’s why there was never any need to take any medicines.
